A lot of activity has been happening in the Kenya radio industry in the fast few weeks. Starting at Radio Africa, the umbrella company that runs KISS, Classic, XFM etc; it is being reported that the morning show presenter now have chase cars to try and ensure their personal security where they head to work during the wee hours of the morning.

Those with this privilege include Maina Kageni, Fareed Khimani, and Aleem of East FM among others. This was brought on by the recent spate of kidnapping in Nairobi.

Still at Radio Africa, popular drive show host Marcus of Classic 105 is said to have tendered in his resignation and may be leaving the station as soon as December to concentrate on personal business.

Many of the employees at these stations are said to be romantically involved with rampant sexual liaisons among the staff. Should we expect a baby boom soon?

Across at Capital FM members are leaving the station at a very worrying rate. Uganda’s recent import Drive presenter Hakeem is said to have left the station and has not been heard o air for over a month now. His whereabouts are unknown.

Drive presenter and actor Maqbul is also said to have tendered in his resignation and is rumored already have 1 foot out the station door.

Still at Capital FM, The Fuse producer a one Vivian has also departed along with Breakfast show producer Vinnie who is rumored to be at KTN.

Is there some sort of plague at that radio station? One wonders why the frequent resignations and staff changes. Let’s see how long new capital FM breakfast show presenter Gaetano Kagwa will last.

Former Capital FM Program Controller Somoina is said to be back in her old job.

Tongues are wagging that Seanice could have actually been squeezed out of this position to make way for Somoina.

But on a brighter note, there is a new radio station to look forward to. The Standard group is to launch their station In January 2010 under the name Radio One.
